Receiving the website inquiries is a meaningful aspect of my service with End of Life Options Colorado. The interests, questions and stories provide a variety of perspectives of Coloradans looking for support.
For example, when a social worker from a hospice on the western slope reached out to see if our not for profit organization could offer financial assistance for medications for a patient’s Medical Aid in Dying journey, I was eager to respond. When we spoke, I learned that this man was unhoused. His sister was paying for a hotel room where he could utilize the medication. Because of the donations to our patient assistance fund for medications, we were able to support this man.
The social worker contacted me after his death to share that End of Life Options Colorado allowed her client to die on his own terms.
The belief that access to Medical Aid in Dying is limited by socioeconomic conditions is not accurate. I was deeply honored as a board member representing EOLOCO in supporting ALL Coloradans.
