Governor Jared Polis signed Senate Bill 24-068 into law on June 5. Rule changes go into effect on August 7, 2024.
Critical updates to the law:
- The mandatory waiting period between oral requests is reduced from 15 to seven days or waived entirely if the patient is unlikely to survive.
- Advanced practice registered nurses with their prescriptive authority can now serve as attending and consulting providers, further expanding the healthcare options for patients.
